Chinese Pictographs: A New Method in Teaching Characters in Elementary Chinese.

Due to its unique writing system, Chinese characters or "Han Zi" are the biggest challenge to students of Chinese. To minimize this problem for our students, Li-Cheng Gu and the MMLC created an online learning resource that combines Chinese characters with the images that these characters represent.

According to Li-Cheng's research and teaching experience, combining the characters and their images can be of great help to the comprehension and mastery of characters that have sometimes been considered to be meaningless drawings. With the help of the pictures, characters no longer seem abstract.

In short, this project is designed to help students recognize, comprehend, and memorize more Chinese characters with less tedious efforts. HanZiGraph boasts an interactive database of approximately 250 essential Chinese characters. Enter Hanzigraph (password required)
