Let's Learn Chinese!

Xiaoxing Liu, a Program of African and Asian Languages lecturer, and intern Jarva Chow created a website for students considering taking Chinese classes. "Let's Learn Chinese!" explains what is involved in learning the Chinese language.The website demonstrates how to create Chinese character using correct stroke patterns that move on the screen and how to use the romanized Chinese alphabet that first year students use at NU. Site visitors can also view video clips that show the tonal qualities of the language and browse photographs Liu has taken in mainland China.

Students who are new to the Chinese language and students who have learned the language informally through family will also benefit from the site. Liu said that she wanted to create a site to show new students that learning Chinese is not difficult, and also the help intermediate students review the language outside of class.
